Good Design Award是日本工业设计推广组织（Japan Industrial Design Promotion Organization, JIDPO）在1957年创立的奖项，屹今已有近50年的历史，其风格独特的得奖标志G-Mark，更是代表此奖项的重要象征。Good Design Award评审团集结全日本学者专家所组成，主要的评审要点希望产品除了传达设计的美感、优雅及独特质感，更需强调其功能的友善性、实用性与安全方便等原则。重要的是，得奖的设计必须符合消费者的使用习惯、物有所值的价格及产品整体的高实用性。根据日本调查中心（Nippon Survey Center）指出，超过65%的日本消费者肯定 G-Mark可提高品牌认同度以及各种产品的价值。
Good Design Awards 2008 在10月8号公布结果，来自3023件设计中的1067件获得了 Good Design Awards 奖项，今年的主题围绕着“不远未来的生活，引领下一代生活方式的设计”，特别奖中除了传统的 Good Design Award Best 15 等外，今年还增加了 Sustainable Design Award 和 Life-Scape Design Award 这两个特别奖，详细见这里。
